Ash Wednesday kicks off the season of Lent, a time of fasting, reflection, assessment, and confession.  The ashes signify our creatureliness ("out of dust you have come"), our mortality ("to dust you will return"), and lament over the fallenness of ourselves and our world.  We will gather to focus ourselves on this season of Lent.  Ashes will be applied to the foreheads of any who wish to engage this symbol.

Throughout the Lenten Season, we will be gathering in community on Wednesday nights for a light soup supper at 6pm downstairs in Paterson Hall, followed by a creative worship experience in the Lounge based on the spiritual practice discussed the previous Sunday.  Child care will be provided for young children, and the worship itself will be designed to included older children:
     -2/29: Solitude
     -3/7: Silence
     -3/14: Fasting (if you are able, please consider substituting prayer for your breakfast and lunch mealtimes on Wednesday; we will "break the fast" when we gather together)
     -3/21: Abstaining (fasting from something other than food)
     -3/28: Secrecy (I'd tell you what this is, but it's a secret)

Our Holy Week worship will be as follows:
     -Sunday, 4/1, 10:30am: Palm Sunday; worship with Sunday School and child care
     -Thursday, 4/5, 7pm: Maundy Thursday Communion worship service
     -Friday, 4/6, 7pm: Good Friday Community Tenebrae (shadows) service in Point Place UCC sanctuary
     

We will celebrate Jesus' Resurrection together:
     -Sunday, 4/8, 8am: Easter Sunday Sunrise service
     -Sunday, 4/8, 9:30am: Easter breakfast in Paterson Hall
     -Sunday, 4/8, 10:30am: Easter Sunday worship service
