Youth Prepare Sunday Dinner for St. Paul's Community Center

As they have done for the past four years, the Senior High Youth Group cooked and served Sunday dinner at St. Paul's Community Center on September 19. They cooked over 150 dinners. Because of the cuts in the budget at St. Paul's they also provided paper products, detergents and coffee. The menu for the dinner was chicken, scalloped potatoes, mushroomed beans, salad, and cupcakes. The teens made sure there were leftovers to feed the residents of the Center in the evening as well.

P.P.U.C.C. Group Canoe, Camp, and Paint Picnic Tables

In July, the Senior High Youth proposed to paint all the picnic tables at the Templed Hills campgrounds. They were welcomed by Cynthia Speller, Director of Outdoor Ministries, and Don Harding, site manager for Templed Hills. Armed with about 20 gallons of red paint, the group used nine gallons and painted over twenty tables in four hours.

Campers the next week at Templed Hills noticed the brightly red painted tables. Shanna Mockbee and Megan Seybold even painted a few more when they were camp counselors that next week. The extra paint was greatly appreciated and used throughout Templed and even Pilgrim Hills.

Summer Visitors from Minneapolis

After reading about our youth activities on the P.P.U.C.C. web site, a youth group from Minneapolis, Minnesota, contacted us. They wanted to work with us on something in Toledo, then move on to Cedar Point. So we contacted Mustard Seed. They suggested the soup kitchen at Riverside "Jamie Farr" Park. Mustard Seed also needed some landscaping work at their new location. So the six teens made flower beds, and built shelving in the basement of the Mustard Seed house. Then they cooked in the church kitchen and transported food to the shelter park, where they served and cleaned up.

Youth see Broken Yoke in Concert

Chelsea Mockbee, Charles Geletzke, III, Alicia and Lori Winne attended the Broken Yoke concert this summer at the NuVision Ministry on Cherry Street (formerly First UCC). The group presented music and message to a small, but enthusiastic crowd.

Mission Trip to Alabama

The high point of 2003 was the Youth Mission Trip to Bayou La Batre, Alabama, in July, where the group assisted with painting and repairing homes and helping to conduct summer Bible School.
